The United States Navy, which claims to be invincible at sea, can only be described with the ancient saying "success is not enough, defeat is not enough" to describe the current situation in the field of anti-ship missiles. Previously, the US military excessively relied on the power of the navy and even "self funded military achievements", shifting its future military focus to land combat.
Therefore, during these twenty years, the navies of other world powers rapidly rose, either by introducing a large number of large tonnage ocean going vessels on a large scale, or by developing many advanced missiles.
However, the US Navy has developed the Zumwalt class, which, although equipped with advanced AGS naval gun technology, cannot compare with missiles. But this kind of tasteless warship, which is a pity to discard, will still be commissioned into the US Navy in the future because the money has already been spent and the ships have already been built. According to Observer Network, on August 30th, the third ship of the US Navy, the Zumwalt and Lyndon B. Johnson, left the shipyard in Maine for sea trials. The ship was launched in December 2018 and underwent its first sea trial in April 2019. It was built by Bath Steel Shipbuilding in the United States. This voyage will be its first sea trial to the Atlantic region, and if the trial goes smoothly, the ship is expected to enter service with the US Navy in 2023. When it comes to the Zumwalt class destroyer developed by the US Navy, I believe everyone is familiar with it. As one of the iconic products of the US military's previous operational guidance from offshore to land, this ship was actually highly anticipated by the US military from the beginning. Therefore, its displacement of over 10000 tons and completely invisible appearance made it known as the strongest destroyer and gunboat by the outside world from the moment it was launched. 
However, in subsequent research and development, the US Navy found that the Zumwalt class destroyer was a deep pit dug by the US Navy for itself. Not only did it not create a generation gap with other countries, but its construction cost was surprisingly high, and its combat performance did not have an advantage. It was a typical "good-looking but useless" role. So initially, the US Navy planned to build 28 Walter class warships, but now it has been reduced to 3 and the core artillery system has been cancelled. The number of vertical launchers is not too many, only with outstanding stealth performance. Perhaps after the third Zumwalt enters service, Zhang Zhaozhong's words will be fulfilled again. Previously, Governor Zhang Zhaozhong believed that unlike the first two ships, the US Navy would reduce costs after discovering that Zumwalt could not give them an advantage, such as no longer using composite materials. At that time, Jumwalter will have no advantage in front of 055. Overall, the Zumwalt incorporates what the US Navy calls the most advanced technology, but its drawbacks are also evident, although the use of phased array radar has significantly increased the ship's firepower channels. However, in order to provide it with more firepower support capabilities, the US Navy's resistance to saturation attacks has actually decreased. In addition, the AGS used for firepower support is equipped with guns but not ammunition, so it is difficult to determine whether it has been strengthened or weakened.
In the previous plan, one of Jumwalter's major advantages was stealth, but due to the high construction cost and the high cost of long-range shells, which could not be mass-produced and used, aircraft carriers were still the main force for the US military in ground attacks. The so-called ability to attack enemy inland from thousands of miles away through stealth was just a gimmick.
