LEM has launched the CTSR series of current sensors for various safety critical applications, including solar equipment. There are two rated AC or DC leakage currents measured in the new series of sensors (with values as low as 300 and 600 marms, respectively), with spectral components up to 9.5 kHz.

In many industrial or power generation applications, residual or leakage currents measured by the CTSR series occur under fault conditions. Examples include solar panels coupled to a grounding grid, or solar panels in fault mode (such as short circuit or ground fault).

The connection between solar panels and the power grid can cause safety issues; If a malfunction occurs, significant safety issues related to human contact with the system may arise.

The CTSR series sensors are specially designed to meet the latest safety standards for solar equipment and inverters, namely VDE 0126-1-1, UL 1741, and IEC 60950-1. This device can be installed on a PCB, is very lightweight (28g), has a hole diameter of 20.1mm, and can easily accommodate multiple conductors.

The residual current capability measures the sum of all instantaneous currents flowing through the aperture - single-phase or three-phase configuration. Conductors can carry a primary current of up to 30A per line (AC or DC). CTSR 0.3-p and CTSR 0.6-p can safely measure rated currents of 300 and 600 Ma, respectively, without offset at an ambient temperature of+25 ° C, with maximum accuracies of 1.9 and 1.5%, providing a safety system that triggers high analog output leakage currents.

They all have a high overload capacity of up to 3300A (pulse duration of 100 μ s, rise time of 500A/μ s), and due to their long creepage distance and net distance (11 millimeters), they have extremely high insulation levels and 600V CTI (phase leakage tracking index) between the primary and secondary measurement circuits.

These products can also be equipped with a main insertion conductor labeled "CTSR XXX TP" (consisting of 4 independent conductors).

The CTSR series sensors are powered by a+5VDC power supply. The typical current consumption for measuring the rated residual current of 300mA and 600mA (CTSR 0.3-p and CTSR 0.6-p) is 17.8 and 18.1mA, respectively. They provide internal reference voltage, self check, and demagnetization options.
