The armature will absorb the tension of the reset spring on the iron core under the action of the coil. Electromagnetic force attracts and drives the armature. The moving contact is in contact with the stationary contact (normally open contact). When the coil is powered off, the electromagnetic attraction also disappears, and the armature returns to its original position under the reaction force of the spring, thereby releasing the movable contact and the original static contact (normally closed contact). It is attracted and released, thus achieving the purpose of conducting and turning off in the circuit. For the "normally open" and "normally closed" contacts of relays, they can be distinguished as follows: static contacts that are in a disconnected state when the relay coil is not powered are called "normally open contacts"; The static contact in the connected state is a "normally closed contact".

According to different classification methods, there are several commonly used types of relays.
